ANTHM: Black Actors →
The actors are out there, it’s also the films that are lacking. When Sidney, Denzel, James Earl were doing it, their performances became bigger than the roles - they were representing the race, reflecting our struggles, hopes and dreams on the big screen - we put ourselves in their shoes. We wanted to be them. We NEEDED to see them.
Halle did it in Dorothy Dandrige, Angela Bassett did...
In The Know (2005)
A documentary about the first African-American owned and operated bookstore in North Carolina - The Know Bookstore.
The Know Bookstore closed in 2008.
Documentary has some great live performances like brother Yusef Salim (R.I.P.) - It’s just as much a documentary on jazz as it is on knowledge.
